Child Birth
Four years ago my son was born on August 6 weighing in at 8lbs 9.46oz 21inches long. I remember this day like it was yesterday. I never you to eat cheese or drink milk before I had him nor did I eat fish. It was after I received the book "What To Expect When Expecting" that changed my eating habits during my pregnancy. This book had all of the dos and don't s Moms should follow during their pregnancy to have a health baby. I followed this book down to the tee, and I had a wonderful pregnancy. With this being my first child I didn't know what to expect. My hospital stay was smooth sailing we had no traffic or anything to get in our way as we drove to the hospital. I loved my stay at the hospital because I got royal treatment for three whole days. I loved it!
Doing my research I am very fortunate because looking at child births in other countries and seeing the had times a pregnant women goes through it makes you want to not take things for guaranteed. In Africa giving birth is one of the most dangerous things to do. This is one of the leading cause of death or serious injuries in Africa. Because there is not high tech equipment nor pharmacies many women have to go without having the right vitamins, and not being able to see how the baby is developing while in the womb. Many women have no choice but than to give birth in their homes.
While doing my research it makes you feel for these families because for many having children is what you want. I love my son and don't know what I would do without him and not everyone can say they are as fortunate. Its good to be thankful for what you have.

I love hearing positive birth stories. We are very fortunate to have good medical care in the majority of the United States.
ReplyDeleteStacey,
ReplyDeleteI have heard "What to Expect When Expecting" is a great book to read when having a baby. It is great to know that the book did help you to have a great pregnancy. I am happy to hear you had such a positive birthing experience. I am sure after having a baby it was great to be treated like a queen while staying in the hospital.
Great post!
I have also heard of the book "What to Expect When Expecting" and am glad to know it was found useful. My husband and I are planning to have a baby this next year and we shall have to get this book. It so sad to learn about Africa being one of the dangerous places to give birth, no one should have to deliver a baby with out proper care. It breaks my heart to hear of people complain about health care here in the United States when you learn about countries that have so much less. Thanks for sharing.
